Watervliet has two city parks for outdoor enjoyment. Hays Park is located on North M-140 with the Paw Paw River running along side. It is home to baseball/softball fields, playground, skate park, picnic area with pavilion, along with a sledding hill and ice rink in the winter. A canoe launch and fishing pier are also available. Flaherty Park located off Church and Butternut streets has picnic tables and a pavilion available with scenic Mill Creek running through it. The parks recent addition is a 9-hole, 3-par disc golf course. It is a heavily wooded course with short, tight fairways for the first six holes then a more open park setting for the last three. There is moderate elevation on most holes. The course is divided by Mill Creek. A recent visitor said “hole 7 - most certainly the signature hole of this course, playing down the stream and ending in the shadow of a 100+ year old bridge is absolutely stunning.”
